Rapper Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, has strongly denied allegations made in a lawsuit claiming he, along with Sean “Diddy” Combs, assaulted a 13-year-old girl at a party in 2000.
The incident allegedly occurred after the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) in New York.
The accuser, identified as “Jane Doe,” claims she was attacked at a house party attended by several celebrities, with one unnamed female celebrity allegedly present during the assault.
The lawsuit, initially filed in October and recently amended to include Mr. Carter, was submitted under New York’s Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act. The accuser is being represented by Texas attorney Tony Buzbee, who has filed multiple lawsuits against Mr. Combs, some involving similar allegations.
In a statement posted on social media, Mr. Carter dismissed the allegations as a “blackmail attempt,” claiming he received a demand letter from Mr. Buzbee seeking financial settlement.
“What he had calculated was that the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle,” Mr. Carter said. “No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion.”
Diddy Also Denies Allegations
Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is currently in custody awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges and faces numerous lawsuits, has also denied the claims. His legal team called the amended lawsuit a “shameless publicity stunt” designed to pressure high-profile individuals into settlements.

“The judicial process will prove Mr. Combs’s innocence,” his lawyers stated, emphasizing his intention to fight the allegations.
Allegations Detailed in Lawsuit
According to the lawsuit, the accuser says she was dropped off at Radio City Music Hall during the 2000 VMAs, where a limousine driver working for Mr. Combs allegedly told her she fit his “preferences.” She was then taken to a house party, where she was given a drink that left her feeling disoriented.
The lawsuit alleges Mr. Combs and Mr. Carter later entered the room where the accuser had gone to rest. It claims the two men assaulted her while a female celebrity watched. The accuser managed to escape after fighting back.
The legal filing claims the victim continues to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder and depression as a result of the alleged attack.
Reactions and Next Steps
Mr. Carter expressed concern over the impact of the allegations on his family, particularly his children, stating:
“My wife and I will now have to explain the cruelty and greed of some individuals to our children.”
Attorney Tony Buzbee has defended his decision to file the case, posting on social media that he remains committed to ensuring justice for his clients.
Mr. Combs’s criminal trial is scheduled for May 5, where the broader allegations against him are expected to be addressed. Meanwhile, both he and Mr. Carter deny any involvement in the alleged 2000 incident, and the lawsuit seeks unspecified damages. Jay-Z Sean Diddy
