John Jacob Nzvede As The New Commander Of The Airforce of Zimbabwe

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has named Air Vice Marshal John Jacob Nzvede as the new commander of the Air Force of Zimbabwe, effective March 15. The announcement came from Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Martin Rushwaya.

Nzvede will succeed Air Marshal Elson Moyo, who is retiring from his post. Nzvede gained recognition for his prominent role beside the late Sibusiso Moyo, then Major General, during the announcement of the military coup in November 2017.

Alongside Nzvede’s appointment, President Mnangagwa has also designated Christopher Pamhidza Pasi as the Health Service Commission secretary. Pasi boasts an impressive academic background, holding qualifications such as a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, a Masters in Medicine, a diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, and fellowship with the College of Physicians of Central and East Africa.

Pasi previously served as the chief medical officer at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital before his recent elevation to this new role.

In another story, President Emmerson Mnanagwa has “fired” Zimbabwe’s Airforce commander, just a few hours after his plane aborted landing at the Victoria Falls Airport due to a bomb scare.

In a statement signed by chief cabinet secretary Martin Rushwaya, Mnangagwa, who could not provide details for allegedly sacking Air Marshall Elson Moyo, his post has been parceled to Vice Air Marshall John Jacob Nzvede.

Rushwaya and presidential spokesperson George Charamba were unreachable for comment as they were not responding to calls on their mobile phones.

Information Minister Jenfan Muswere and publicity secretary Nick Mangwana were also unreachable for comment. In his statement, Mnangagwa only said he made the changes as per some provisions of the constitution.
