Julian King, a musician based in the United States, launched his debut album last week, titled Misunderstood: The Kings Chronicle, which has been well-received by fans of Afro Fusion music.
The album features ten compelling tracks, complete with visuals, and includes collaborations with various artists. The songs are titled: ‘Sorowe’, ‘Commando’, ‘Marry Me’, ‘Dombo’, ‘Nobody’, ‘Eke’, ‘Carol’, ‘Kiss’, ‘Pikoko’, and ‘Sara’. King has collaborated with notable artists such as Holy Ten, Boypee, Geosteady, Phatso, and Nutty O.
Misunderstood: The Kings Chronicle was brought to life by a talented team of producers who understood Julian’s artistic vision, with Wayne Beats adding his signature touch to the project.
In an interview with H-Metro, Julian King shared his insights on the album:
“The themes of the album center around resilience, hope, and self-belief. I’ve incorporated deeper tracks that reflect my personal experiences and hardships, showcasing a range of emotions and my versatility. Each song is crafted to stand alone while contributing to a broader narrative of overcoming challenges and staying authentic to oneself. This album mirrors my journey and the obstacles I’ve encountered.
Having grown up without financial support and often charting my own path, I’ve felt misunderstood at times. However, I believe that struggles can cultivate strength, and I hope this album resonates with anyone who feels isolated or overlooked. My message is that resilience, faith, and hard work can lead to triumph.”

Julian expressed his passion for the honesty in his music: “What I love most is that I don’t shy away from sharing my true self and experiences, which I believe connects deeply with listeners. My music is both personal and relatable, which adds to its power. It’s tough to choose a favorite track, but if pressed, I’d say ‘Pikoko’ stands out for me; it celebrates perseverance and the small victories that accumulate over time, something I truly relate to.”
He also emphasized the need for greater support for artists: “I would love to see increased backing for independent artists, especially those from modest backgrounds. The music industry can often feel exclusive, and creating more opportunities for artists without major support or connections could bring a wealth of authentic talent and diversity to the forefront.”
To his fans, Julian advised: “Stay true to yourself, even when it feels like no one understands. Keep pushing forward and embrace your uniqueness—that’s where your strength lies.”
Diana Elisha Nheera, the project executive for Julian King, expressed her pride in his journey: “It’s been a joy to witness this inspiring story unfold. Watching this student flourish into a superstar is truly remarkable! Such determination, resilience, and artistic talent—congratulations, JK, on your debut album!”
