Jurgen Klopp, the German football coach, has drawn a line under his illustrious career, declaring himself done with coaching, including a potential stint as England’s national team manager.
“I didn’t decide to stop on a whim, it was a general decision,” the former Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund coach remarked at a German Football Coaches Association conference in Wuerzburg.
Klopp stated, “It was just time to step aside and put the whole thing to rest,” and that it “would be a great loss of face” to make an exception for a team or nation.
Even though his days in the dugout were finished, the coach stated he was enjoying his retirement and would eventually return to the football field.

“I’m too young to just hang around with my grandkids and play padel tennis.
“Will I be a coach again? I would actually rule that out at the moment. Let’s see how it looks in a few months. At the moment, there’s nothing in the pipeline.
“We can perhaps talk about it again in a few months.
“I still want to work in football and help people with my experience and contacts. Let’s see what else there is for me,” said Klopp, who added he had “already coached the best clubs in the world.”
Klopp was a player for Mainz for 325 games before becoming a coach in 2001.
Before joining Liverpool in 2015, he relocated to Dortmund in 2008, where he helped the team win two league titles and make it to the 2013 Champions League final.

Klopp put an end to Liverpool’s thirty-year Premier League title drought. In addition, he delivered an FA Cup, two League Cups, a UEFA Supercup, and led the team to three Champions League finals, of which the team won one.
The coach made a jest, saying that anyone who thought he was going back to coaching had not been paying attention.
“At the moment there’s nothing job-wise. No club, no country. A few people must not have heard that part.”
