Jonas Kasamba, a member of the Orchestra Mberikwazvo band, was dragged away from a female ZRP Band member at a hotel last Thursday by his colleagues.
Kasamba’s partner, Selemane “Majuice” Mpochi, yanked the chanter away from the ZRP Band member.
In plain view of top police personnel, the incident took place.
At a fundraiser event held by the Ruwa neighborhood to raise money for the construction of a police station for the neighborhood, Kasamba, Majuice, and Zaka Zaka performed with the ZRP Band.
Alick Macheso was absent from the show.
“Aah, aaah, no that is too much zvakwana mudhara,” Majuice was heard saying as guests were taking pictures using their cellphones.
The Ruwa community, working closely with Chief Inspector Anna Chota, has been partnering the police in fighting crime such as armed robberies and stock theft.
Ruwa’s captains of industry, church leaders, farmers and teachers were part of the guests at the fund-raising dinner.
Officer Commanding Harare province, Commissioner Wonder Tembo, attended.
“Modern policing does not separate community and police officers,” said Comm Tembo.
“We appreciate the Ruwa community’s cooperation with the police in battling crime.
“Such a relationship will result in a society devoid of crime, which will foster peace and commercial investment.
He remarked, “I would like to congratulate Chief Inspector Chota for collaborating with the community on this endeavor.
