The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup has revealed its group stage matchups, marking the debut of its expanded 32-team format.
This new format replaces the previous annual structure and features a lineup of top clubs, including Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Chelsea.
Initially scheduled for a 2021 launch in China, the tournament was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The first edition under the new format will take place in the United States, attracting both excitement and criticism. Observers have noted unexpected qualifiers and prominent omissions among top-tier teams.
Format and Group Stage Details
The tournament features 12 European clubs, six South American teams, and representatives from Asia, Africa, North America, and Oceania. The groups aim to ensure diverse representation, with most groups avoiding teams from the same confederation.
