A woman from Masvingo Blessing Chiromonyo has been taken into custody for allegedly drowning her two young daughters in a water canal following a domestic dispute with her husband over allegations of infidelity.
The tragic incident involved the deaths of her daughters, aged three and seven.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest, stating, “Police in Masvingo have apprehended Blessing, aged 25, in connection with a murder case that occurred on January 8, 2025, at a water canal in Section 4, Triangle.”

According to police, Chiromonyo reportedly took her two children to the canal and jumped into the water with them. While the strong currents swept the children away, leading to their drowning, the mother emerged from the canal unharmed.
Investigations revealed that the incident followed a confrontation between Blessing Chiromonyo and her husband, during which she accused him of infidelity.
Police are continuing their inquiries into the matter.
