Moussa Mounchikpou, the Cameroonian employer of a Zimbabwean truck driver, and the driver, Brian Chande, have been charged with kidnapping. The two appeared before Harare magistrate Stanford Mambanje and were each released on US$250 bail.

According to the State, on October 28 last year, Moussa Mounchikpou and Chande, along with three other accomplices who are at large, summoned Tasara Hwata, the complainant, to one of their offices in Workington. They claimed Hwata was under arrest for failing to deliver 600 bags of fertilizer to Omnia Fertilizer Company in Zambia.
Hwata was assaulted, forcibly taken to Chirundu Border post, and handed over to another individual who transported him to the Mosque Police Post in Makeni, Zambia. Hwata, who appeared in court in December and was granted bail, remains in Zambia pending trial. Anesu Chidenje represented the State.
