Three Mudzi siblings, Clever Mudzengere (24), Trymore Mudzengere (23), and their colleague Freddy Gireya (23), have been convicted of murder for brutally assaulting a man they accused of stealing a cellphone during a beer binge in 2022.
The incident occurred on December 26, 2022, at Chikwizo Business Centre in Mudzi, where the trio accused the man of theft and left him mortally wounded, resulting in his death a few hours later.
Despite denying the charge, the State successfully proved that they unlawfully and with intent to kill, struck the deceased on the head with an empty bottle and stamped on his chest.

The court heard that the deceased was first struck with an empty bottle by Clever, causing him to collapse. Trymore and Freddy then joined in the assault, kicking and trampling on him while he lay unconscious.
As a mob watched at the shopping center, they took turns repeatedly stamping on his neck and chest, ultimately leading to his death.
Justice Munamato Mutevedzi ruled that each of the accused participated in the crime, finding them guilty of murder as charged. They now await sentencing.
