In other news, FIVE police officers stationed at ZRP Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport base were nabbed and yesterday hauled to court to answer to charges of criminal abuse of office.

They allegedly received payments from some vehicle owners, which are not part of the Zupco franchise, to allow the buses to drive into the central business district (CBD).

Belinda Kafesu, Calvin Zhou, Clemence Chirume, Tatenda Mugova and Sithandweyinkosi Thebe appeared before Harare magistrate Stanford Mambanje.

Allegations are that on May 3, Superintendent Albert Zhou, and eight other police officers from PGHQ internal investigations, were on surveillance along Chiremba Road.

It is alleged they noticed the five officers manning a roadblock at the corner of Chiremba and Alexandra Road.

They also noticed there were some non Zupco kombis, which were stopping at the road block site, dropping conductors.

The conductors would then meet Chirume before returning to their vehicles.

The State alleges deals were being cut to allow the non-Zupco kombis to pass the roadblock and ferry passengers into central Harare.
