National Hero Mabuya's Burial Set for Today

President Mnangagwa is scheduled to oversee the interment of Colonel (Retired) Kenny Ridzai Mabuya, a revered liberation war hero who passed away last week after a brief illness.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, President Mnangagwa will lead the proceedings at the National Heroes Acre on Thursday, February 1, 2024.

The ceremony will also be attended by Vice Presidents Chiwenga and Mohadi, as well as other dignitaries such as the Chairperson of Zanu PF and Minister of Defence, Cabinet ministers, members of the diplomatic corps, and senior government officials.

The gates of the national shrine will open at 6:00 AM, with all mourners required to be seated by 7:00 AM. A large turnout of Zimbabweans is expected to gather at the National Heroes Acre in Harare to bid farewell to the late national hero.

Minister of Home Affairs Kazembe Kazembe assured that all arrangements were in place to give Colonel Mabuya a fitting farewell. He emphasized the importance of honoring individuals like Colonel Mabuya for their significant contributions and sacrifices in liberating the country.

Minister Kazembe highlighted the immense sacrifices made by Colonel Mabuya and others during the liberation struggle, underscoring their bravery and commitment to securing Zimbabwe’s freedom from colonial rule. He emphasized that their sacrifices would be remembered for generations to come.
