Three Harare women have each received five-year prison sentences for trafficking harmful substances.
Before Regional Magistrate Ignatio Mhene, Sibusiso Ndlovu, Caroline Silver Mafra, and Patience Murinda (32) were present.
The three were given seven years in prison apiece by Magistrate Mhene, but two years were suspended in exchange for good behavior.
The duration shall be five years.
According to the State’s argument, Mafra was traveling from Brazil on April 1, 2021, and was planning on arriving in Harare the following day.
A group of detectives from CID Homicide and CID Law and Order went to Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport after getting the information and detained Mafra there.
To pick up their partner Mafra, Murinda and Ndlovu arrived at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport in a blue BMW car.
Detectives selected Murinda and Ndlovu, recognized them, and interviewed them.
The police learned that they had been directed by a Nigerian man named Bobby to meet Mafra and escort her to her guest house.
They guided the detectives to their residences after the interview, where they discovered seven fabric samples from their beds.
A clear plastic container with what police believed to be cocaine-like dark sticky powdery particles was placed between each cloth sample.
It was taken.
The seven seized sachets tested positive for heroin on April 8, 2021, when they were examined in the forensic science lab.
The total mass of tested heroin was 242 grammes with a street value of $1 632 355.
