The International Cultural Food Festival (ICFF) returns to Harare this year with organisers announcing that the food and drink jamboree will be held at the uptown venue The Rock, formally known as Spook House.
Themed The Worlds Oktoberfest the event is set to go down on October 15 which coincidentally is the last Saturday of the world largest beer festival that is held in the German capital Munich yearly, also popularly known as The Oktoberfest.
The festival which was last held in 2013, hopes to attract different nationalities living in Zimbabwe to come and mingle enjoying different cultural foods, drinks and alcoholic beverages thus creating a cultural convergence in the capital.
ICFF also aims to educate Zimbabweans on traditional and regional foods, wines and culinary products in the process also providing a platform for local companies to remove misconceptions while promoting the local industry through interaction with customers and international companies and embassies exhibiting at the festival.
To date a total of ten embassies have confirmed their participation with registration for companies and vendors already under way.
Speaking to Showbiz, festival director Dananai Chipunza, said that while the festival was centered on cultural convergence and food, it will not only be a food and drink affair as there will be an exhibition of food products accompanied by entertainment for patrons.
“The ICFF is an event centered on cultural convergence and food. Not only will they get to taste international cuisine they get to learn more about the food they use day in and out in their households from different companies that will be present as well as get the chance to interact with the different nationalities living in Zimbabwe,” said Chipunza.
“The festival will not be only about food but also a good weekend outing as there will be a number of top DJs taking turns to entertain patrons during the day long festivities among many other entertainment packages.”
Chipunza who is a professional chef, model and businesswoman made her name when she won the inaugural Miss Carnival Zimbabwe after winning the crown in 2013.
