Pachoto Girls Speak Aginst Date Rape
The newly formed Pachoto Dance Company which was created under the organisation Katswe Sistahood displayed their concerns on the less spoken about date rape through dance and spoken word at theĀ launch of a Campaign to End Date Rape in Zimbabwe.
The girls illustrated their experiences of hurts and pain that are related to date rape before an audience of parliamentarians and other invited guests whom they hope will carry over their concern to the public at large.
“We stand with women who speak out against sexual violence. Date rape is a crime which destroys a girls’ self confidence and dreams. Women and girls deserve respect. Let us demand justice for survivors of date rape. Let us create a support system for every girl who needs it. Date rape is never the victim’s fault,” said Talent Jumo the director of Katswe Sistahood.
Over the years date and marital rape has been in existence among couples when a partner is forced to have sex against their will causing damage to the victim but it has never been addressed until recently.
Katswe Sistahood is praying that there is going to be a law that advocates against date or marital rape.
