Dr. Tamer Almassri, Ambassador of the State of Palestine, has issued a strong condemnation of the ongoing Israeli military actions in Gaza, highlighting the recent violence that has led to the deaths of displaced Palestinians living in tents at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital and Jabalia camp in northern Gaza. According to Dr. Almassri, these attacks, which he described as “massacres,” have resulted in hundreds of casualties, including women and children.
The ambassador accused Israel of employing brutal tactics aimed at depopulating Gaza through direct violence and forced displacement. He claimed that the Israeli government is exploiting global distractions, including its activities in Lebanon, to intensify its campaign in Gaza. He further alleged that Israel’s objective is to sever northern Gaza from the rest of the Palestinian territory and to carry out a wider displacement strategy.
“The most heinous forms of crimes are being practiced against Palestinian civilians to force them out of their homes, either by direct killing or through forced displacement,” Dr. Almassri said. He called these actions part of a deliberate strategy to create buffer zones, deepen colonial control, and gradually annex Palestinian territories.
The ongoing conflict has seen a significant rise in the death toll, with the number of Palestinian fatalities reportedly reaching 42,227 since October 2023. Additionally, 98,464 individuals have sustained injuries. Dr. Almassri emphasized that a large portion of these casualties are women and children, calling the situation a “genocide” and accusing the international community of failing to take effective measures to halt the violence.
The Palestinian ambassador called for urgent action from the international community, urging the enforcement of United Nations resolutions. He stressed the need to adhere to the advisory decision of the International Court of Justice, which demands an end to the occupation within a year. “The international community’s inaction is only emboldening Israel to proceed with its plans to displace the Palestinian people and dismantle their homeland,” Dr. Almassri stated.
