Payment Dispute Turns Deadly: Guruve Man Murdered Over Unsettled Boot Debt

In a tragic incident in Guruve, a 33-year-old man lost his life on Tuesday following a dispute over an unpaid debt for garden boots.

Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest of 28-year-old BayisaI Scotch in connection with the murder.

According to Nyathi, the victim, Isaac Kusikwenyu, was fatally struck on the head with a log on February 2 after an altercation with Scotch, who had refused to pay for gumboots sold to him by the victim’s mother.

In a separate case, Nyathi reported another murder investigation in Bulawayo, where an unidentified woman was found dead in a bushy area at Denver Farm, Cowdray Park. The woman had swollen lips, cuts on the head and knees. Police are appealing for information to aid in the investigation.

Murder cases have been on the rise since last year, with Harare and Bulawayo topping the list of areas with the highest reported incidents. In an unrelated incident, a doctor, Tinotenda Madzima (30), from Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital, lost his life after being hit by a dislodged wheel from a moving haulage truck on the Harare-Chirundu Road.

Nyathi stated, “The doctor was walking along the road when he was hit on the back by a wheel which had dislodged from a Scania haulage truck which was traveling towards Harare. The victim died on the spot.”
