The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) have apprehended two individuals involved in the assault of Tongai Mafidi Mnangagwa, the nephew of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Tongai Mnangagwa, who also serves as the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality, was attacked by a suspected drug dealer in Harare’s Avenues area on Tuesday night.
The altercation originated from a dispute over a parking space outside Trud Mansions, located at the corner of 6th Street and Fife Avenue in Harare.

In an official statement, the police confirmed the arrest of Antony Mwedziwendira (30) and Jaspa Cephas Kuziva (25) in connection with the assault on Deputy Minister Tongai Mnangagwa and suspected drug dealing.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Antony Mwedziwendira (30) and Jaspa Cephas Kuziva (25) in connection with illegal drug dealing and assault which occurred in the Avenues area, Harare, on 30th January 2024,” part of the statement reads.
According to reports, Antony Mwedziwendira allegedly assaulted the deputy minister and his aide before fleeing the scene. He used his hands during the assault, which arose from a parking dispute.
After the altercation, Mwedziwendira left behind his vehicles—a BMW 5301 with registration number AES 2955 and a Mercedes Benz C240 with registration number ADQ 1822—as he fled from the scene.
