Residents of Rusape have been left in shock after a man was arrested for allegedly attempting to murder his mother-in-law in a horrifying act of vengeance.
Loveridge Abraham Muchapondwa (43) reportedly committed the act on April 30 in Chiduku Village, following a domestic dispute. Authorities say his wife had recently left him and moved back in with her mother.
In what appears to have been a calculated retaliation, Muchapondwa is accused of dousing his mother-in-law with petrol before setting her alight.
According to a police report shared on X (formerly Twitter), the woman sustained life-threatening burns to her head and chest and is currently hospitalised in critical condition.
Law enforcement quickly apprehended the suspect and issued a strong warning against resorting to violence to resolve personal grievances.
What began as a family dispute has now become a criminal case marked by severe brutality.
