Scholarship season heats up, Scholarship America is excited to showcase a variety of funding opportunities available right now. Among the featured programs is the Essential Visionaries Award, offering up to 100 students as much as $40,000 over four years to pursue careers in education, nursing, or mental health.

Scholarship America Essential Visionaries Fund
Are You a Future Nurse, Educator, or Mental Health Professional?
The Essential Visionaries Fund is here to support students pursuing careers in education, counseling, social work, psychology, or nursing.
- Awards Available: Approximately 100 scholarships.
- Funding Amount: Up to $10,000 per year, renewable for up to four years (totaling up to $40,000).
- Eligibility: Students at vocational, technical, or two-year institutions can receive up to $5,000 annually, while those at four-year institutions are eligible for up to $10,000 annually.
Who Can Apply?
- Rising high school seniors, high school graduates, GED recipients, or current college undergraduates.
- Students planning to enroll part-time or full-time in an accredited college or vocational-technical school in the U.S. for the entire upcoming academic year.
- Those pursuing a certificate or degree in education, counseling, psychology, or nursing-related fields, with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Individuals with DACA status are encouraged to apply.

Vertex Foundation Scholarship Program
The Vertex Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to improving lives affected by serious diseases, offers the Vertex Foundation Scholarship Program. This initiative provides $5,000 awards to students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees who have been impacted by cystic fibrosis (CF).
Since its inception in 2017, the program has awarded over 630 scholarships. Notable recipients include Marcelo Salazar-Barragan, a student at the University of Texas Medical Branch, who is determined to become a doctor after his own experience with CF.
Eligibility: High school seniors, college and technical school undergrads, and graduate students in the U.S. and Canada who are either diagnosed with CF or are immediate family members of someone diagnosed.

Frontline Families Scholarship Program
In partnership with epidemiologist Dr. Michael Osterholm, the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation established the Frontline Families Scholarship Fund to support the surviving family members of frontline healthcare workers who lost their lives to COVID-19.
This program provides educational assistance without a competitive process; all eligible applicants receive scholarships and can reapply up to three times while pursuing their education.

National Hydropower Association Past Chairs’ Legacy Scholarship
The National Hydropower Association (NHA) is committed to promoting the growth of clean, renewable hydropower. To support future leaders in this field, NHA offers the Past Chairs’ Legacy Scholarship, providing $2,500 to college students studying hydropower-related fields.
Eligibility: College sophomores or juniors in an NHA-approved program, or seniors transitioning to NHA-approved graduate studies, with a GPA of 3.0 or better.
Note: High school seniors are not eligible.
