A 46-year-old man from Silobela has been taken into custody on suspicion of killing his uncle, who he believed to be seeing his wife.
Felix Chingama, 46, is accused of hitting his uncle Prosper Munanzvi, 55, on the head once with a brick and then all over his body with a log. The incident took place in Kombora Village, Silobela on August 17, 2024. The Police released a statement which read :
Felix Chingama, 46, has been detained by Kwekwe police in relation to a murder case that took place in Village Kombora, Silobela on August 17, 24.
The defendant attacked his 55-year-old uncle Prosper Munanzvi once in the head with a brick and then all over his body with a wood. The victim was accused of dating the suspect’s wife. The victim passed away instantly.
In a different murder case, Siphethebuhle Nkomo (20) was taken into custody by police in Nyamandlovu, Lupane on August 14. It is said that she killed her 18-month-old kid by strangulation after she was unable to stop him from crying at Zimdabule Village 4, Deli, Nyamandlovu. That that day, the incident happened.

In other different news, The convictions of villagers who had been found guilty of trespassing and unlawfully occupying gazetted land without authorization have been overturned by the Masvingo High Court.
As part of a nationwide wave of evictions spearheaded by the government, the Masvingo Magistrates Court earlier this year ordered the villagers to leave their homesteads within seven days and issued totally suspended three-month prison sentences on them.
Ivy Jawona, the magistrate in Masvingo, handed down sentences that the villagers challenged, according to Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR).
