Socialite Zodwa Mkandla has recently been the subject of speculation regarding her relationship with Namibian media personality and model Luis Munana.
The rumors began swirling after photos of the two looking close surfaced on social media, prompting fans to assume that Luis might be Zodwa’s new romantic partner.
However, in a recent interview with The Herald, Zodwa put the rumors to rest, clarifying that Luis is not her boyfriend but a good friend.
“Our friendship started in Zambia back in 2023 during the Lusaka July event,” Zodwa explained. “We connected instantly over our mutual love for fashion. Since then, we’ve become close friends and have even worked together on a number of business ventures.”
She emphasized the value of their platonic relationship and addressed a common societal misconception: “Luis and I are just friends, but I understand why people might think otherwise. It’s important to challenge the stereotype that a man and a woman cannot simply be friends, especially in our African context.

The duo has collaborated on various projects and made several public appearances together. Luis has even visited Zimbabwe multiple times, including a stint as a guest judge at the Miss Universe Zimbabwe pageant, an invitation extended by Zodwa after their initial meeting.
“Since our first meeting in Zambia, we’ve explored many business opportunities together. Unfortunately, not everyone is familiar with Luis, so there may be some misunderstandings about our dynamic. But to clarify, we are simply friends and business partners,” Zodwa added.
While the nature of their relationship has sparked conversation, Zodwa remains firm in her stance, encouraging others to reconsider the idea that close bonds between men and women must always involve romance.
