Well, finally the tickets to the much awaited Tarrus Riley concert to be held this Saturday are out and selling like hot cakes!
The pricing regime was met with mixed feelings with the cheapest ticket going for US$20 for the “early birds” while a standard ticket is US$30; VIP$50 and VVIP $100. However the show promoters have maintained their prices and said quality stuff do not come cheap.
Already ticket sales have hit the 1000 mark and tickets are available at Rainbow Towers and Webtickets. Perhaps what most music lovers are missing is that the show has two top international acts in the same building – Tarrus Riley and legendary saxophonist Dean Fraser.
Fraser is one of Jamaica’s most celebrated saxophonist, whose Midas touch has made hits for several Jamaican superstars since the 1970s .This has seen him get recognition from the Jamaican government for his contribution to music. Locally, perhaps he could be equated to the legendary Bothwell Nyamhondera and Clive Mono Mukundu. The line-up of supporting acts is also decorated as it features Soul Jah Love, Gary Tight, Seh Calaz, Judgement Yard, Gary B, Templeman and fast rising wheel spinner DJ Cables, whose knowledge of reggae music is unquestionable. According to organisers, the concert targets mature music fans who want to be “hit” by music in a hustle free environment. Gates open at 6pm.
