A 17-year-old teenager from Zimre Park, Ruwa, is accused of defrauding unsuspecting high school pupils money amounting $2,640 USD. He has been charged with fraud.
The adolescent, whose identity has not been made public, is charged with making a fraudulent promise to help them join the SADC junior parliament program.
The kid lured classmates with promises of enrollment in the elite Junior Motivators SADC Parliament program by posing as a member of the Junior Parliament in July 2024, according to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).
He took advantage of their confidence and ambition to deceitfully obtain money from them. The teenager has been taken before a magistrate in Harare to answer for his deeds.
Many students feel financially disadvantaged and misled as a result of his dishonest scheme.
This episode should serve as a warning to others about the perils of fraudulent activity and the necessity of doing due diligence before giving someone your money.
“He charged them fifty dollars for a camping trip to Domboshava Resort and sixty-two dollars for registration and uniforms.
“He vanished after getting payment. There was $2,640 in total that was exchanged. Nothing was found.
The adolescent was turned over to his guardian. His next court date is September 5, 2024.
