Emerging Afro-pop sensation Gilbert “Gidza Boy” Kanzira reveals his strategy for managing both his academic pursuits and musical aspirations.
Beyond seeking fame and perhaps a bit of fortune, Gidza Boy aims to make an impact on the music scene while serving as an inspiration to fellow teenagers.
Gidza Boy burst onto the scene with his debut album “Manake” two years ago, garnering instant popularity.
Currently a Form Two student, he dominates music charts with his catchy single “Need You” and is actively working on his upcoming EP titled “Gidza Boy and Friends,” slated for release in the coming months.
Expressing his dedication, Gidza Boy emphasizes the importance of hard work in the competitive music industry.
“As a musician, it’s crucial to stay motivated and work diligently to build your reputation and brand. Personally, I’m driven to push my limits and become a trailblazer,” he shares.

“I aspire to revolutionize the music industry for the benefit of all artists in the country. To achieve that, I need to maintain my relentless pursuit of success,” he adds.
Despite his youth, Gidza Boy has collaborated with established artists such as Mathias Mhere, Shantel Sithole, Holy Ten, and Herman Ndinamatire.
He looks up to renowned figures like Jah Prayzah and Winky D, aspiring to work with them one day and glean insights from their work ethic.
“I admire Jah Prayzah and Winky D for their dedication and commitment to greatness. My dream is to collaborate with them and learn valuable lessons from their experiences,” he concludes.
