T.G.I.F – Thank God it’s February!

The term “January Disease” is so popular that even legendary musician Paul Matavire made a hit song amply titled January Disease. While the norm has been that the month is sleepy and difficult, the local showbiz industry has been a hive of activity from-scandals, breakups, new albums and well; more controversies.

Honorable Thursdays looks back at the eventful January…

Keeping Up with the Chideme’s

Early January saw the premiere of “Keeping Up with the Chidemes”, what a series that was!
Stunner’s wife took to Facebook after the rapper “was caught cheating” and all hell broke loose.
On January 4, yes just four days into the New Year, Stunner’s wife Olinda Chapel took to social media “revealing some deep secrets” about her marriage.
I mean who would have thought “stylish” Stunner does not even own a single suitcase, well thanks to the wife, Olinda, the world now knows.

“This guy couldn’t even afford to pay to pay rent. Anga asina kana sofa kana chinhu and I thought I was building this man,” lamented Olinda.

“From the Audi he was driving, Kupinda mu Lexus, to the Mercedes Benz yaanofamba nayo right now. Hembe, bhutsu this guy has everything, I did everything for him.”

Olinda did not commit suicide as threatened but well the “series” has entered a few words in the street lingo dictionary TWO KEYS whisky is now called “CHISTUNNER” a woman who takes care of her male partner financially is now called “CHIOLINDA”!

The chant “Baba Harare musadaro” could have been just a casual chant at live shows but it fast became relevant. One could tell that fans meant every word at Jongwe corner when the dreadlocked star strummed his last notes for Third Generation Band.

Theories have been forward as to why the star left Jah Prayzah’s ensemble but officially, he is pursuing a solo career and has since launched his debut album.

We can only wish the best for Baba Harare and surely should applaud Jah Prayzah for showing support to his former guitarist.

Remember Dereck, yes Dereck Mpofu!

Well remember Dereck, yes that Green Ambassador who organised that chaotic Green Concert flop in May of 2015.

According to the news in a local tabloid, it appears he does not flop between the sheets. One Patience Ndazi told H Metro the musician had been playing hide seek after impregnating her. The artiste is married to one Mai Vince.

At one point, Dereck Mpofu is a said to moved in with another woman identified only as Hilda and in the process abandoning his family.

Did I mention that Patience Ndazi also claimed that she took care of Dereck?
Jah Prayzah pulls a fast one on Andy Muridzo, as Bev reveals Andy doesn’t even care to “pull out”!

The biggest news of January seems all to be around one man; Andy Muridzo.

From signing for Military Touch Movement to the revelations that he has been playing hide the sausage with Beverly Sibanda; the young man has made himself a subject of ridicule.
For the better part of 2016, the young singer was believed to be the most authentic competition to dislodge Jah Prayzah from his free reign on top of Zimbabwean music scene and was expected; at least make a similar move as his rival in launching a record label.

But he went to bed with him.

You just got to love the cunning manner in which Bev has dealt with this issue, yet still any serious analyst who has read about Bev since she found herself in the limelight will know, that is equally a reason to worry.

The Positives!

Though January had a lot of controversies, it is not all gloom.

Sulumani Chimbetu has fairly had a good start to the year despite some poorly attended outings; the artiste has seen his album gain ground and receiving good reviews on the various media platforms.
