Two Arrested For Transporting 19 Cattle Towards Bulawayo
Two people were arrested on Wednesday after the police got a tip about a truck carrying 19 cattle towards Bulawayo along the Beitbridge-Bulawayo highway. The suspects, Edmore Bibi and Farai Phambukani, both from Bulawayo’s Emganwini suburb, were caught transporting the cattle in Esigodini.
The police spokesperson confirmed the incident. The suspects were first seen in Insiza, Matabeleland South, by someone who tried to stop them, but they drove away towards Bulawayo.
“The two were arrested after they were spotted at Insiza area by an informant who tried to stop them, but they fled driving towards Bulawayo.
“The informant then followed them phoning police officers in Bulawayo Central which led to the arrest of the accused persons.
“Upon search, it was discovered that the duo had 19 herd of cattle where 13 were cows and 6 were oxen and they had no permits for transporting the livestock,” Ncube said.
The informant followed them and called the police in Bulawayo Central, leading to their arrest. When the police searched the truck, they found 19 cattle – 13 cows and 6 oxen. The suspects didn’t have permits to transport the livestock.
Sadly, two of the cattle died while the police were holding them as evidence.
