Watch: American Tourist Delights Zimbabweans by Treating President Mnangagwa’s State House Guards to Beer

American Tourist Delights Zimbabweans

An American tourist has captured the hearts of Zimbabweans by purchasing alcoholic beverages for President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s security personnel stationed at the State House in Harare.

The tourist, known as Counselllor on social media, hails from the United States and embarked on a travel and tourism adventure that led him to Zimbabwe.

Previously, he had relocated to Kenya, where he documented the daily lives of ordinary Kenyan citizens on his YouTube channel. His travels have also taken him to countries like Egypt and Uganda.

During his visit to Zimbabwe this month, Counselllor explored the nation and shared his experiences with his social media followers. In a daring move, he decided to make a stop at the State House.

Recording videos around the President Mnangagwa’s official residence is typically prohibited, but the American vlogger disregarded these rules and discreetly recorded a video using his concealed phone.

As he casually strolled past one of the State House entrances, he exchanged greetings with a soldier holding a firearm, who then humorously requested a beer. Counselllor, communicating that he did not speak Shona, continued the conversation in English. The Presidential Guard specified his desire for a bottle of Russian Bear vodka.

Engaging in a casual conversation, Counselllor asked the soldier about his monthly earnings as a Presidential Guard. The soldier revealed that he earns a monthly salary of US$170 and expressed satisfaction with his job.

To the soldier’s surprise, the American tourist pledged to purchase the requested Russian Bear vodka, prompting a chuckle from the soldier, who seemed skeptical.

Counselllor proceeded to a nearby store, procuring the Russian Bear vodka for US$9 and some dilution water for the soldiers. Upon returning to the State House, a Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) officer from the residence approached to retrieve the plastic bag containing the alcoholic beverages.

Touched by this unexpected act of kindness, the soldier requested Counselllor’s contact number, expressing a desire to stay in touch.
