Western Cape police have announced the arrest of three additional suspects in connection with the murder of a Stellenbosch University student.
The first-year Bachelor of Science student was tragically robbed and fatally stabbed early on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. A 19-year-old man was apprehended just hours after the incident.
Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie, spokesperson for the Western Cape provincial police, confirmed that the three suspects were arrested on Thursday.
“Stellenbosch SAPS, in collaboration with Crime Intelligence and detectives, apprehended four individuals involved in the murder of the 19-year-old student,” Pojie stated.

According to initial reports, the student was attacked and stabbed around 3 AM while riding his bicycle on Borcherd Street. He was robbed of his personal belongings before succumbing to a fatal wound to his neck.
Pojie added that the rapid response from Stellenbosch detectives and Crime Intelligence led to the swift arrest of the first suspect, who is set to appear in the Stellenbosch Magistrate’s Court on Friday, October 18, 2024.
The latest arrests include a woman and two men, aged 28 and 29, who were taken into custody on October 17, 2024, in Cloetesville, Stellenbosch. They will also face court proceedings once charged.
