A HARARE woman was allegedly found in possession of 52 crocodile skins at her home in Mabelreign.
She was arrested and appeared in court over the weekend.
Vimbai Dzingirai, 31, was not asked to plead when she appeared before Harare magistrate, Yeukai Dzuda.
Dzingirai is employed by a Masvingo white man Wadley Duncan Andrew. The court heard that the police from the CID Minerals, Flora and Fauna received information that Dzingirai was in possession of crocodile skins, without a permit.
The police acted on the tip-off and went to Dzingirai’s house in Mabelreign where they saw her and introduced themselves.
They also advised her of the reason for their visit.
The police searched the house and 52 crocodile skins were recovered from her kitchen.
Dzingirai was asked to produce a permit, authorising her to possess the crocodile trophies, and she indicated that the permit was in Masvingo. The police took the trophies, pending the availing of the permit.
However, she failed to avail the permit and became evasive.
