A Harare based youthful fashion designer Rudolf Mabuya is confident that his brand will dominate the market soon.
Mabuya (28) is the founder of Farmfit LuxuryWear, a brand that was established at the end of 2021.
“With the response, I am having, barely a year, after I started this brand, they is light at the end of tunnel.
“So far we have done more than 20 orders for people in the diaspora, locally we are working with more that five corporates and individual orders are on the rise.
“Only time will tell before we are a force to reckon with in the fashion industry,” explained Mabuya.
Farmfit LuxuryWear target market was agriculture value chain (value addition and beneficiation) but they are slowing venturing into other sectors.
“When I started, I was focusing on designing clothing specifically for agriculture personnel, because as an agronomist by profession I saw that many people find it difficult to dress for the occasion.
“I saw the gap and decided to design office wear clothing, so that when conducting business and on field days people interact putting on fashionable clothing.
“Due to the overwhelming response, I am now doing safari wear and soon we will be venturing into mining”.
Farmfit designs include shirts, t shirts, shirt dresses, hats, overalls and waistcoats.
Mabuya said he was inspired by entrepreneur Tinashe Mutarisi (owner of NASH paints).
“Growing up I never saw myself being a designer, I had a privilege to meet Mr Mutarisi, it was during that chat, the whole idea came.
“So I saw the gap and decided to give it a try, the gamble is paying off”.
The youthful designer added that; he is using local raw materials as a way of promoting local industry and strengthening buy Zimbabwe products.
Of late many youths are engaged in various economic activities due to the second republic open door policy and mantra of ” leaving noone and no place behind”
