Zim Ninja Academy Receives 70 Medals From Europe and Asia

Zim Ninja academy an affiliate of the Zimbabwe Karate Union (ZKU) Tuesday received two packages of medals of two separate tournaments one held this year and the other one held last year.

Fourth six (46) medals were won in the 2022 Virtual World Martial Arts Championship held in March. Zimbabwe came second place after India which was the host nation.

Christopher Garatsa Zim Ninja Academy Secretary General said the second set of 24 Medals was won in the Mediterranean Open Online Championships held in December 2021 and hosted by Malta. Combined the medals received yesterday were a total of 70 Medals.

“The medals were bagged from different martial arts styles that include Kobudo and Karate. Owing to restrictions, including travelling, that came with the advent of the Covid-19 pandemic, the competitions were held virtually,” Garatsa said.

Among the winners of the Virtual World cup championship are:
The Gold: Wilfred Manenji Mashaya, Wilfred Junior Mashaya, Vincent Fambira, Mitchell Rudanda, Virginia Chihuri, Farai Zuva, Olga Zvavanjanja, Jeahan Zvavanjanja, Thandiwe Chirindo, Fredson Mhondiwa, Mathew Shepeni, Stanford Dzinavatonga, Stewart Taruvinga, Brian Shepeni, Zanele S.N Mfiri, Blessed Kanda and Solomon Mandongwe.

Silver and Bronze: Cade Zvavanjanja, El Zvavanjanja, Owen Chiwawa, Nigel Melchizedek Zerah Dutiro, Itai Maveto, Henry Mashaya, Prince Chabanga, Nobert Hello Murungu, Seamus Daniel Basikoro, Wilson Kawinga, Prince Manhanga and Munashe Gumbo.

Participating countries of the World cup tournament included host India, Spain, Germany, Bangladesh, Belgium, Denmark, Czech Republic, England, Iran, Libya, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Seychelles, Slovakia, South Africa, Sweden, Srilanka, Egypt, Uzbekistan, Zimbabwe, Japan and the United States of America.

The other tournament hosted countries such as Russia, Nepal, South Africa, Nigeria, Brazil, Italy , France, Switzerland, England, India, Morocco, Spain, USA, Egypt, Poland, Scotland, Mexico, Pakistan, Ireland, Uzbekistan, Argentina, Slovakia, Gambia, Tunisia and the host Malta

While in both, Zimbabwe was represented by ZimNinja academy participants,a number of who have mastered the Weaponry art; Kobudo. The sport has been contributing in putting the nation on the map. So far The Zim Ninja Academy has amassed a total of 215 medals in 14 tournaments participated since 2020. One of the Zim Ninja Academy’s goals and mission is to continue raising the country’s flag high through sports on the International scene.
