The Zimbabwe Embassy in South Africa has sprung into action following a devastating bus accident that claimed the lives of 13 Zimbabweans in the Western Cape Province. The tragic incident occurred when a Simlex bus collided with a commercial truck along the Hex River Pass, approximately 140km before Cape Town.

Reports suggest that the accident was exacerbated by the winding curves of the Hex River Pass. The bus, en route from Harare to Cape Town, collided with the oncoming truck, resulting in significant casualties. Tragically, even the bus driver lost his life during the collision.

Zimbabwe’s Consular General in Cape Town, Ms. Esther Mudambo, confirmed the death toll and assured that efforts were underway to identify the victims. A team from the Zimbabwe Embassy has been deployed to the accident site, collaborating with local authorities and assisting the relatives of the victims.
