Zimbabweans Eager To Embrace New Opportunities: Ready To Relocate To The United Republic Of Delvin
Zimbabwean-born scholar, Professor Webiston Jokonya, has made an extraordinary discovery – his own sovereign nation named the “United Republic of Delvin” (URD) situated on Howland Island in the Central Pacific Ocean. Born out of a formerly unclaimed and uninhabited region, URD, spanning just 160 hectares, now boasts 36 registered citizens, complete with its own currency.

Jokonya, aged 45, declared the island’s sovereignty in 2023, establishing URD with aspirations to welcome global investors and build diplomatic ties. According to NewsDay, the newly appointed Prime Minister envisions a thriving nation with an international seaport, Port Howland, and a major city, Nashville, housing Amelia International Airport.

While URD boasts an equatorial climate and valuable natural resources such as guano, it faces the challenge of a limited freshwater supply. Undeterred, Jokonya, with a diverse academic background and numerous achievements, is determined to innovate solutions for the island’s water needs.
Born and raised in Hurungwe, Zimbabwe, Jokonya‘s journey from rural roots to global academia led him to this uninhabited territory during his research travels. With a vision for a new nation, Jokonya invites investors to join him in the development of the United Republic of Delvin.
