Edmore Zvekare, a polygamist from Madanhire Village under Chief Jiri in Gokwe, is recovering from serious burns after his wife, Vaidah Mavuna, scalded him with boiling water amid accusations of an affair with his nephew.
Zvekare, who has multiple wives, had a heated argument with his nephew over allegations of an illicit relationship with Vaidah, his eldest wife.
Despite the altercation, Edmore stated that he has chosen not to pursue legal action against his wife.
“Indeed, she scalded me, but I still love her and I don’t want her to be prosecuted. All I want is to recover,” he remarked.

According to sources, Zvekare has a history of domestic violence against his wives, which may explain his reluctance to involve the authorities.
“He often abuses his wives, so it’s not surprising that he’s not seeking legal action. However, this time, Vaidah fought back in self-defense, resulting in severe injuries for Zvekare,” a source revealed.
During the altercation, Vaidah intervened to protect herself, leading to the scalding incident. Zvekare sustained multiple injuries as a result.
In other story, a man, aged 60, from Zambia is recuperating from serious burns inflicted by his wife, who poured hot water on him allegedly for not providing money to purchase relish.
The incident occurred last Saturday around 08:00 hours at their residence in Kaputula Township. Zelia Khuwa is reported to have assaulted her husband, Peter Mwanza.
Central Police Commissioner Chola Katanga confirmed yesterday that Nkhuwa has been charged with assault.
