The 2024 Chibuku Road to Fame National Final shone a spotlight on Zimbabwe’s rising musical stars, with the Glamis Arena hosting this year’s grand event.
The finale showcased a diverse blend of sounds and electrifying performances as artists competed for recognition, a recording contract, and substantial prize money.

This year’s top honor went to Kweseka Band, an Afro-fusion group from Victoria Falls, Matabeleland North. Known for their intricate rhythms and cultural influences, the group impressed both judges and the audience, securing the prestigious title. Their win earned them a US$15,000 prize and a recording deal, marking a major advancement in their musical journey. NACZ Executive Director Napoleon Nyanhi presented the award, adding to the celebratory mood.
Other outstanding acts were also celebrated. Boom Jazz from Mashonaland West took second place with their smooth jazz pieces, while Music2Music from Matabeleland South came in third, delivering an impactful Afro-fusion set that highlighted their abilities. Each of these acts added unique elements to the competition, enhancing the musical richness and diversity of the event.
Beyond the competition, the event also included performances by well-known Zimbabwean artists. Zimdancehall favorite Freeman, Afro-jazz singer Feli Nandi, and popular performers Master H and Poptain captivated the crowd. Despite a few technical difficulties during her set, Feli Nandi kept the audience engaged, further energizing the festive atmosphere. The event drew a lively crowd, with discounted Chibuku beers and free admission adding to the excitement.

The 911 Band, winners of the 2023 competition, returned to the stage, showcasing their growth since their victory and inspiring this year’s contestants. Their performance demonstrated the potential for artists who gain exposure through Chibuku Road to Fame to advance their careers.
The panel of judges, featuring respected figures like music critic Prudence Katoneni Mbofana, provided fair and expert evaluations. The audience included well-known personalities from Zimbabwe’s arts scene, such as Afro-jazz musician Aggab Nyabinde, acclaimed guitarist Clive “Mono” Mukundu, and arts promoters Chipaz and D-Nosh, underscoring the event’s importance in the music industry.
Delta Beverages and the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe continue to support the nation’s musical talent through the Chibuku Road to Fame program, helping emerging artists realize their dreams and contribute to Zimbabwe’s vibrant music scene.
