Agga Nyabinde Appointed as New NACZ Communications and Marketing Manager

Agga Nyabinde appointed as the new NACZ Communications and Marketing Manager

Aggabu Agga Nyabinde, an award-winning Afro Jazz artist, has been appointed as the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe’s new Communications and Marketing Manager, effective June 2024.
This was confirmed in a press release issued by Napoleon Nyanhi, Executive Director of the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe. Agga previously worked for Zimbabwe Broadcasting Cooperation as a marketing executive.

In response to his appointment as communication and marketing manager, Agga stated that he intended to use his musical background to enhance his role. “My musical background is beneficial to my new role because I am a stakeholder in the sector. I am well-versed in the majority of the issues that creatives face, as well as the expectations they place on the council. As a result, I approach each task with the urgency it deserves,” he explained.

Agga denied that he had transitioned from music to communication and marketing. “In addition to my musical career, I have always worked in marketing and communications. However, my enthusiasm for the creative and cultural industries influenced my decision to apply for this position, and I am grateful that I was considered for it.”

When asked how his creative approach as a musician will influence his strategy in his new position, he replied, “I am simply translating the sector problem into an action point from a well-informed perspective. It can be difficult for someone who has not walked the road to understand where you’re coming from, so I’m glad I had the artistic experience first.

Agga outlined his top priorities and how he plans to evaluate his performance in his new role. He stated, “My role is broad, and it includes many equally important responsibilities. I’ll highlight a few, such as the organization’s ability to communicate effectively with its stakeholders. It is critical that the nation understand the programs we have in place so that those who wish to participate can do so. Another important role I play is to raise financial resources for these programs, so I urge the corporate world to welcome us when we ask for their help. The cultural and creative industries require them.”

He demonstrated his competence by confidently sharing his plans. “Paul J. Meyer’s balanced wheel of life discusses balancing the various aspects of your life so that nothing suffers at the expense of another. My creative abilities will always flourish because they began as a social activity and eventually became commercialized. I was still in school at the time, so balancing school and music is similar to how I balance my new role and my creative programs. They rarely demand the same time.

“What excites me the most is that this role is like a dream come true. I have always wanted to participate in an organization responsible for arts and culture because I know that way we will have a mutual understanding,”  Agga stated.

He left a message for his fans and followers, saying, “Thank you for your support. You are my pillar of strength and inspiration. Please be assured that I will continue to make music. This role comes to improve things for other artists like me, so it benefits the industry as a whole.”
Agga takes over for Rodney Chiwende, who left the position after it had been vacant for some time. Nyabinde is the son of the late legend Bob Nyabinde, who made hits like “Chabuda Hapana.”

He has worked for AB Communications (Pvt) Ltd. (ZiFM Stereo, Hevoi  FM, 98.4FM, Mighty Movies, and Truck Ads Media) as Key Account Manager from 2015 to 2019. He joined Mtaka Media for one year as a marketing manager before moving to Zimpapers Television Network, where he was a senior sales executive.
