Dr. Tamer Almassri, the ambassador of the state of Palestine, demands an immediate ceasefire as the only means of protecting civilians and strongly condemns the massacre carried out by Israeli occupation forces this morning on Palestinian civilians who were starving to death while waiting for the arrival of humanitarian aid trucks at the AL Nabulsi Roundabout in Gaza.
At least 150 people were killed and over 1000 injured in the attack. Israel had planned to carry out this horrifying massacre, killing the victims on purpose under the pretext of ethnic cleansing and genocide against the Gaza Strip’s population.
Despite knowing that the victims had come to this location in search of food and assistance, the Israeli army killed them in cold blood. Israel should be held responsible for war crimes and genocide since it is purposefully starving the Palestinian people. About 2.2 million Palestinians live in the Gaza Strip, where food supplies have been destroyed by Israel and the movement of food, medical supplies, and other humanitarian aid is severely restricted, leaving a large population suffering from severe malnutrition and hunger.
“This horrific massacre serves as further evidence of the Israeli government’s disregard for international law, which mandates the protection of civilians. The most recent massacre provides further proof of both the occupation policy—which forcibly uproots our people—and genocide.
“The increasing and ongoing suffering of the Palestinian people at the hands of the Israeli apartheid state exposes a moral and legal failing of the international community as well as of the nations that identify as human rights, peace, and the two-state solution,” said the ambassador.
The number of civilians killed since the start of the Israeli aggression on Gaza on October 7 has risen to 30 000 (70% are women and children),7000 are still under the rubble while 70,215 others were injured. Over 135 journalists, 152 UN staff have been killed, 90% of Gaza homes, government offices, UN facilities and hospital has been destroyed.
