A man is entangled in three marriages, including one to a woman living in Canada, whom he deceived into believing he was single at the time of their wedding. Mudavanhu Sanyika’s complicated romantic history has recently come to light.
In 2022, Sanyika paid lobola (bride price) for Magdalene Sharara, unaware that he was already married to Divine Furusa. Their marriage took place in 2018 at the Harare Magistrates’ Court. Despite being legally married, Sanyika pretended to be a bachelor when he married Magdalene on September 9, 2022.
Divine eventually discovered this second marriage and brought Sanyika to court on charges of bigamy, which involves being married to more than one person simultaneously. The High Court in Harare examined the case and found that Sanyika had married Magdalene while still married to Divine.
Ultimately, Sanyika decided to divorce Divine and continued his relationship with Magdalene, later marrying another woman and having a two-year-old child with her.
When approached for comments, Sanyika did not respond, while Magdalene expressed reluctance to speak, stating she felt like a victim in this situation. H Metro reported that she was actively trying to locate Sanyika.

Based in Canada, Magdalene was preparing to assist Sanyika with his immigration paperwork but found he had disappeared to be with another partner instead. Her visit to Zimbabwe in August 2022 coincided with Divine discovering Sanyika’s other marriage.
As a result of Divine’s court action for bigamy, the High Court annulled Sanyika’s marriage to Magdalene, ruling it invalid since his first marriage was still in effect. Notably, Magdalene covered all legal expenses related to the case.
