Chief Chinhamora in Domboshava, a suspected fake employment agent from Mungate Village, appeared in court on charges of raping two women and taking their valuables after falsely claiming to have found jobs for them.
Willard Kudakwashe Jonifati, 25, faced charges of rape and robbery when he appeared before Harare magistrate Mrs. Marehwanazvo Gofa. He was remanded in custody and instructed to apply for bail at the High Court.
According to the State’s case, on March 4, 2024, Jonifati used phone tricks to entice the first complainant, a 35-year-old woman, to the Mverechena Business Centre in Domboshava, stating he had found a job for her. The complainant met Jonifati at the business center around 7:00 p.m.

Jonifati directed her to a forested area near Mverechena Dam, claiming it was the location of the job. There, he pulled out a knife, took her phone, s*xually assaulted her, and stole her umbrella and T-shirt before fleeing the scene.
On the second count, on July 5, 2024, Jonifati, who was in the same WhatsApp group as the second complainant, a 20-year-old woman, enticed her to Molife turn-off, Domboshava, by claiming to have found a job for her. The complainant met Jonifati at the Molife turn-off, and he told her the new employer would meet her at a nearby shop, so he escorted her there. Chief Chinhamora
While at the shop, Jonifati ordered the complainant to give him all her money, and she complied, handing over $20. After the purported employer failed to show up, the complainant decided to head back home.
On their way back to the bus stop, Jonifati led the complainant through a bushy area, where he sexually assaulted her three times. When they arrived at Mungate Business Centre, the complainant managed to obtain assistance from bystanders, leading to Jonifati’s arrest.
