At least nine individuals have officially expressed interest in running for the ZIFA presidency in the upcoming election set for January 25.
The ZIFA normalisation committee will conduct a vetting process to assess the eligibility of the candidates, with the results expected to be announced on December 23.
The candidates include Marshall Gore, based in the UK, along with ,Walter Magaya Philemon Machana, Twine Phiri, Farai Jere, Martin Kweza, Temba Mliswa, Gilbert Muponda, and Nqobile Magwizi.
Nominations for the election opened on November 22 and will close on December 11, following which the vetting process will begin.
ZIFA councillors will vote for a new president, two vice presidents (one of whom must be a woman), and six additional board members. The chairperson of the Premier Soccer League and the leader of women’s football will also join the board.

Several candidates are competing for the two vice-presidency positions, including Nyasha Kadenge, Mavis Gumbo, Loveness Mukura, Joyce Kapota, Patience Mutumwa, and Winnet Muropa.
Other contenders for board membership include Omega Sibanda, Gift Banda, Peter Dube, and Kennedy Ndebele. Additionally, Francis Zimunya, Shariff Mussa, Xolisani Gwesela, and other individuals such as Sweeney Mushonga, Andrew Tapela, Kudzai Kadzombe, and Tinashe Malunga are also in the running for the six board member positions.
Candidates for the board membership include women like Miriam Sibanda, Beaular Masara, and Christine Ndou.
