A Chaplin High School driver, Davie Maravanyika (58), has been charged with fraud for allegedly inflating the price of a tractor part.
Maravanyika reportedly received a verbal quote of US$35 for the part and US$20 for installation but later submitted a claim on January 29, stating the total cost as US$355.
When the school’s bursar attempted to make payment to Gazaet (Pvt) Ltd, the company rejected the transaction, denying any connection to the quotation.

A Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) probe later confirmed the document was fraudulent, with a serial number that did not match official records.
He was arrested on February 27 and appeared in court the next day, represented by Advocate Militao.
Granted US$100 bail, Maravanyika must not interfere with witnesses, remain at his listed address, and report to ZACC Gweru biweekly.
His trial is scheduled for March 20.
