Child born without privates parts...Mother begging for assistance

A CHITUNGWIZA mother is begging for assistance so she can pay for her seven-year-old child’s surgery in India, who was born with a rare illness.

The bladder is external to the body, and the anal area is sealed, hence Takunda Zhandah was born without genitalia.

The father, Jacob Mamhovha, vanished shortly after the child was born as a result of the unusual ailment.

It is still unknown where the father is.

The child will need surgery in India, so the family is now making an appeal for more than $16,000.

Takunda had received therapy at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital over the years in an effort to correct the anal area, only to discover that his colon was too short for the surgery.

But because proper surgery could not be performed locally, the mother was recommended to seek care abroad.

To collect the waste, Takunda has turned to utilizing diapers and colostomy bags.

Takunda uses a minimum of three colostomy bags each day, each of which costs $4, for a total monthly expenditure of at least US$372, according to his mother, Ellis Zhandah.

The mother, who is unemployed, said that her boy requires particular supervision.

Takunda’s father, who vanished after the baby was born, hasn’t been found yet.

When attempting to obtain a birth certificate, the child was forced to use the mother’s last name because the father could not be found.

In order to assist the youngster, the family has provided contact information that well-wishers can use.
