Death, torture, and missing body parts increasing in Israeli prisons
Dr. Tamer Almassri, Ambassador of the State of Palestine, is outraged by human rights violations against Palestinian prisoners, women, and girls who are subjected to various forms of torture in Israeli detention centers and prisons, which are considered worse than Guantanamo Bay.
Detainees from Palestine are being brutally murdered and tortured by Israeli military forces in Gaza and the West Bank. While over 9,000 Palestinians are being held in the occupied West Bank, which includes East Jerusalem, more than 3,300 Palestinians in Gaza have been abducted and taken to unidentified prisons. In order to coerce confessions, detainees are kept in appallingly harsh circumstances, including cramped quarters that resemble chicken cages. They are also frequently deprived of food and water. Finally, they endure severe torture and beatings.
More than 27 Palestinian detainees in Gaza died during interrogation as a result of torture or denial of medical treatment. Israel kidnapped dozens of martyrs’ bodies and returned them without other body parts such as kidneys, hearts, and skins, raising the possibility that Israel is involved in the sale of human organs.
In light of the ongoing genocide against our people in Gaza, the occupation authorities’ policy of detaining journalists has escalated to threats, field assaults, detention, and persecution. Approximately 80 journalists have been arrested, and more than 144 have been killed.
Similarly, Palestinian women and girls in Gaza are subjected to extrajudicial executions, rape threats, starvation, denial of healthcare, and humiliation by Israeli interrogators who use derogatory language to force them to confess to charges brought against them.
The State of Palestine reminds Israel’s government of its obligation to protect Palestinian women and girls’ rights to life, safety, health, and dignity, as well as to ensure that no one is subjected to violence, torture, ill-treatment, or degrading treatment, including sexual violence.
Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces committed seven massacres against families in the Gaza Strip over the last 24 hours, killing 71 Palestinians and injuring 182, according to medical reports. The documented death toll from Israel’s onslaught since the genocide war began has risen to 36,550, with another 82,959 people injured. The Israeli occupying power continues to use starvation as a weapon of war against the 2.2 million Palestinians in Gaza, with several deaths reported.
