DJ Fantan claims that his fan base in Zimbabwe has now reached one million people and he aims to leverage this popularity to attain millionaire status.
His weekly event, known as the ‘China Chemadzimai’ slot at Mashwede Village every Thursday evening, has gained significant traction, even attracting tourists who would have otherwise visited the country.
Fantan expressed his aspirations to follow in the footsteps of successful entrepreneur Wicknell Chivayo and urged local DJs to learn from the business strategies employed by their South African counterparts, who have achieved millionaire status through their talent.
“I am aiming to reach millionaire status now that I have gained popularity not only in Zimbabwe but also in the Southern African Development Community (SADC),” he stated.
Renowned for his China Chemadzimai slot, which is specifically tailored for female audiences, Fantan highlighted its success, noting the regular presence of guest artists from around the world. Recently, South African DJ Thembie graced the event after hearing about its popularity.

According to Fantan, his Thursday slot consistently draws crowds of over 5,000 attendees, including a diverse audience of locals and tourists. He emphasized the importance of allowing women to enjoy social outings and experiences, encouraging men to support their partners, sisters, and mothers in exploring their interests outside of the home.
The success of Fantan’s China Chemadzimai slot reflects the growing influence of the Zimbabwean music industry on a global scale, further solidifying his position as one of the country’s top DJs.
