Fatal Road Traffic Accident Claims One Life in Mutare
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed a tragic road traffic accident that occurred at the intersection of Hebert Chitepo Street and Aerodrome Road in Mutare on the 23rd of February, 2024, resulting in one fatality and one injury.
According to ZRP reports, the incident involved a BMW motor vehicle traveling east along Aerodrome Road, with no passengers onboard, and a Honda Fit motor vehicle traveling north along Hebert Chitepo Street, also with no passengers onboard. The collision between the two vehicles proved fatal, leaving one person dead and another injured.
“The impact of the collision caused the BMW motor vehicle to veer off the road, subsequently striking two parked motor vehicles located at the ZRP Mutare Central parking bay. This chain reaction led to a total of six vehicles parked in the vicinity colliding with each other,” reads ZRP statement on X
ZRP said that the deceased individual’s body has been transported to the Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital mortuary for a post mortem examination, while the injured party has been admitted to Murambi Hospital for medical treatment.
The ZRP is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident to determine the exact cause and any potential contributing factors.
