It will be the return of glitz and glamour on Friday September 16 as Tiles for Africa boss Spencer Madziya celebrates his 36th birthday at a red carpet event at The Volt in Harare.
Themed Red and Black Affair, the bash will be a red carpet event and will also carry with it unique programing where a host of artistes are set to perform to celebrate the birthday of one of the most popular urban music promoters.
According to Madziya, Mawungira eNharira will set the ball rolling on the night before making way for several artistes and DJs Prezha Manager, Judgement Yard, 8L, Smylie, MC Stansplash and Arnold Gara among others.
“It’s going to be a celebration of life as my family and friends host this party at our entertainment home, The Volt,” said Madziya.
“For the first time mbira groups will open up the floor to old skool mix masters right up to the new skool and there will also be special performances by the hip hop skools and urban movement artistes.”
Madziya took over what used to be the Book Café leaving Sphinx at Cresta Oasis Hotel where Time and Jazz Café is now housed.
He also runs Motor Action Sports Club, one of the biggest uptown open door entertainment venues in the capital.
Madziya remains one of the few promoters that keep supporting urban music despite the economic challenges and serious lack of professionalism and says he believes in supporting local talent and nurturing it for the better.
“The amount of support from all the artistes; both groups and individuals in the entertainment industry is humbling and shows you that where there is unity of purpose there is growth. We need to support art and this is a clear example that If you also support they will support you back,” said Madziya.
