Popular Zimbabwean gospel musician Dorcas Moyo has come under fire on social media following a Facebook post in which she discouraged citizens from participating in protests scheduled for March 31st.
The post, which quickly sparked outrage, led Moyo to limit comments as criticism escalated.
Many social media users accused the musician of siding with the authorities and alleged that her stance was influenced by gifts she has received from businessman Wicknell Chivayo.

Moyo was recently gifted a car by Chivayo, a businessman known for his close ties to Zimbabwe’s political elite and controversial philanthropic gestures.
Critics argue that Moyo’s message undermines people’s right to demonstrate and voice their grievances.
Some accused her of turning a blind eye to socio-economic challenges faced by ordinary Zimbabweans, while others suggested that gospel musicians should remain neutral on political matters.
Despite the backlash, some of her followers defended her stance, saying she has the right to express her opinions without being attacked. Supporters praised her for promoting peace and discouraging potential violence.
