Madiz
…singer to celebrate birthday in style
RHUMBA musician, Itai Madzikura, better known as Madiz, is set to celebrate his birthday in style by serenading revellers at City Sports Bar’s Jam session tonight.
After taking a sabbatical from music, the Gweru-bred artist is on a revival mission aimed at taking the music market by storm, which he told Showbiz, begins with a five-star performance at his birthday bash.
The artist concedes that his last album released in 2013 was a subdued project as it failed to make an impact on the market forcing him to seek other avenues to sustain a living.
Said the Amina singer: “As much as you can be passionate when it comes to music – there is need to earn a living from it. It is unfortunate music is not paying well and we are losing a lot of talented people as they see no light at the end of the tunnel.”
Madiz says even though he did not completely quit music in 2013, he had to find other ways to place food on the table.
“I have worked on a number of singles during the break, which has also helped me to maintain the momentum.”
The musician, who turns 34, said he had lined up a special act for the fans who will join him in celebration as the gig served as a teaser of his upcoming album “Madizlicious”.
“Those who will attend are in for a night to remember as I will be announcing my comeback and sampling tracks from the forthcoming album. I have managed to keep my live band intact from 2008 so I assure my fans a flawless act,” said the singer.
Confident that his next album will be a hit, the Kazevezeve hit-maker, said that he had put together a sizzling hot album, which catered for all music lovers as it is a fusion of genres.
“Like I highlighted back in the days when I launched my music journey, my music is a blend of different genres but mainly revolving on the rhumba beat. That alone makes it standout. I’m quite sure this is yet another hit album, which will certify my work as a cut above the rest,” said Madiz.
He added that upcoming tracks like “Chamhamha”, “Stay with Me” and “Wandinoda” – which features Lady Storm – were potential club bangers. The City Sports Bar show will see the crooner being helped to celebrate by a number of musicians among them, Andy Muridzo, Trevor Dongo, Extra Large and the Franco Slomo led Extra Kwazvose.
The venue’s spokesperson urged fans to come in numbers and join them in celebration with the artist.
“We have put on the cards a rare event by giving merrymakers a mixed bag as you can see on the musicians we have invited. We expect a good turnout as each and everyone will have value for money.”
