Mkango Malawi Nyau Club has emerged victorious in the Midlands leg of the Chibuku NeShamwari competition, cementing their position as one of the top traditional groups in the region.
Chibuku NeShamwari, Zimbabwe’s premier traditional music competition, recently hosted its Midlands Province leg, drawing in a talented pool of 10 traditional dance groups vying for the top spot.
The exciting event, held at the prestigious Vital Hotel in Shurugwi, saw each group deliver electrifying performances, showcasing their unique styles and cultural heritage.
In second place was Undi Gure, who displayed exciting Zambian Nyau routines. Pasichigare Kandodo, a Mhande dance group, came in third place, making the Nyau dance dominant at the event.
The competition was fierce, with each group presenting their best acts, but ultimately, Mkango Malawi Nyau Club emerged victorious, winning over the judges and the audience with their captivating Nyau music and energetic dance routines.
The Chibuku NeShamwari competition aims to promote and preserve Zimbabwe’s rich cultural heritage, providing a platform for traditional groups to showcase their talents and compete for recognition.
The event has become a staple in the country’s music calendar, attracting talent from all over Zimbabwe. With their win, Mkango Malawi Nyau Club has secured a spot in the competition’s national finals, where they will face off against other regional winners, vying for the coveted title of Chibuku NeShamwari champions confirmed Delta Beverages.
Mkango Malawi Nyau Club joined an elite group of traditional dance outfits, including Dzimbahwe Nengoma from Mashonaland Central, who had already secured their spot in the Chibuku NeShamwari national finals. Dzimbahwe Nengoma, known for their captivating performances and rich cultural heritage, had impressed the judges and audience alike in the earlier rounds, earning their place among the top traditional groups in the country.
The next Chibuku Neshamwari provincial competitions are going to be held in Dzivarasekwa Extension at Padziva on Saturday June, 22.
