Nelson Chamisa CCC Former Leader Allies Rally Against Tshabangu

Turmoil in CCC as Chamisa's Former Allies Rally Against Tshabangu
NELSON CHAMISA

Prominent members of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) have thrown their support behind Nelson Chamisa following his departure from the party, citing concerns over alleged infiltration by the ruling Zanu PF. Nelson Chamisa’s decision to sever ties with the CCC, which he had led during the August 23 harmonized elections, has sent shockwaves through the political landscape.

Chamisa’s exit dealt a significant blow to the CCC, which had previously made strides in challenging Zanu PF’s dominance in parliament. However, Sengezo Tshabangu’s emergence as the self-imposed interim secretary-general of the CCC has further complicated matters, leading to the recall of several legislators and councillors and triggering a series of by-elections.

In a heartfelt statement, Chamisa expressed his disappointment with the state of the CCC, alleging that the party’s original vision had been compromised by Zanu PF’s influence through state institutions. This sentiment found resonance among other CCC members, many of whom took to social media platforms to pledge their allegiance to Nelson Chamisa and distance themselves from the party.

Mount Pleasant MP Fadzayi Mahere announced her resignation from Parliament, expressing gratitude to her constituency while lamenting the missed opportunities to effect positive change. Similarly, Harare MP for Youth Quota, Takudzwa Ngadziore, declared unwavering support for Chamisa’s vision, emphasizing the importance of remaining steadfast in the struggle for a new Zimbabwe.
